John the Beloved Disciple 1

We have started a small painting 17"x23" to be hung in a devotional chapel of the Church of the Beloved Disciple, Grove City, PA.  The first of a series depicting in painted narrative,the spiritual life of St.John the Divine. The Bible verse that we have designed the painting around is Mt 4:21,22. 
We will be working in oil paint on gessoed panels.  Today we will start on the underpainting.  This is the first step.  Subsequent steps will be posted as we progress.
