Altar Adornment Sculpture: Original Sketch

This is an original sketch done by Suzann Miriello and is the first step towards a 3D piece designed for an altar at St. Eulalia of Coudersport, PA. When this moves into the sculpting phase David Korns will take over and create a 3D interpretation that will then be cast in plaster and realistically painted and gold leafed. The sculpture is of a pelican in its nest and symbolizes Christ the Redeemer feeding us through the Holy Eucharist. This was a commissioned piece and when finished will be installed at the church. Follow the progress from concept, to sculpture, casting, painting, and then see the final piece right here.
